Resilience Reimagined

Capital One

Roles: Creative Direction, Art direction

As the Senior Art Director at Taylor, I was instrumental in conceptualizing, producing, and overseeing the post-production of 'Resilience Reimagined,' a powerful series brought to life in partnership with Capital One. This initiative shone a spotlight on the extraordinary responses of individuals and organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on their innovative and resilient approaches to unprecedented challenges.

We adopted a documentary film and photography style, meticulously researching and selecting subjects, locations, and moments that would resonate with viewers. Despite the pandemic's constraints, we successfully captured compelling on-site footage and crafted five captivating documentary films and five photo essays in 2020.

One of our notable features spotlighted Erik Bruner-Yang. He rallied the D.C. restaurant community to deliver meals to families in need, embodying resilience and community spirit in times of adversity. His inspiring efforts formed a meaningful part of our series, demonstrating the power of unity in overcoming challenges.

Another highlight was the transformative efforts by Callen-Lorde, a community health clinic serving the LGBTQ community. In response to the pandemic, they innovatively adapted their services to enhance healthcare access for their community, a testament to their dedication and adaptability.

Our series also featured The Boys & Girls Club, who stepped up their support for the larger community. Their mission to provide opportunities for youth found new avenues during the pandemic, as they pivoted to online learning and increased food access, particularly for families of frontline workers.

We turned our lens to Nuts.com as well. As a family-run online nut and snack retailer, their business boomed during the pandemic. Nevertheless, their focus remained on safety above profits, an exemplary stance that underscored their commitment to their customers and community.

In the education sector, we featured The Knowledge House, a digital/tech/trade training school in the Bronx. Their pivot to 100% online teaching and replacing canceled technology training exemplified their commitment to their students' futures and the economic development of the local Bronx community.

The Ali Forney Center, a haven for LGBTQ youth, was another featured organization. They made the defiant choice to stay open during the pandemic, going the extra mile to increase support, funds, and access for their community. By redefining the concept of "home" and transitioning to telehealth, they provided a lifeline for their clients.

We highlighted Ed Trust, who swiftly mobilized to advocate for students on all fronts during the pandemic. By working to secure additional state aid, increasing internet access for online learning, and providing services for students who were parents and undocumented, they played a significant role in safeguarding students' education.
